DOE Set to Host Hybrid Public Briefing on Hanford Cleanup Priorities on March 6

Feb 23, 2023

After three years of virtual-only meetings due to COVID, DOE prepares to host its first hybrid public briefing and comment period to engage the community on Hanford cleanup priorities.

The U.S. Department of Energy is inviting the Tri-Cities community to attend a hybrid (both physical and virtual attendance options) public briefing on Hanford Site cleanup priorities on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 5:30pm. Representatives from DOE will provide an overview of Hanford’s current projects and priorities, followed by input and perspectives from Tri-Party Agreement regulatory agencies the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Washington State Department of Ecology.

Following the briefing from DOE, EPA and Ecology, representatives will open up a Q&A session for general public participation. The agencies will listen and consider the values and priorities expressed by the public and stakeholders, with all comments needing to be submitted in writing for public record.
