Hanford Cleanup Priorities

Hanford Communities’ priorities reflect the shared interests of local governments and community partners in Hanford cleanup decisions.

While the Projects section of this website describes major cleanup work across the Hanford Site, the Priorities section focuses on the policy, funding, regulatory, workforce and community issues that shape how cleanup moves forward and how those decisions affect the Tri-Cities region.

Each year, the Hanford Communities Governing Board develops an Issue Agenda to identify shared priorities and elevate the community’s voice in Hanford cleanup.

Hanford Communities’ Top Priorities focus on the cleanup funding, long-term cost and schedule challenges, sitewide risk reduction, regulatory alignment and workforce needs that affect Hanford’s cleanup mission.

Hanford Communities’ Local Priority Issues focus on community, economic, historical and civic issues connected to Hanford’s long-term role in the Tri-Cities region.
