In a sitewide effort to better accommodate the region’s diverse population, Hanford Communities has taken measures to translate its content for Spanish and other languages.
Organizations across the Hanford Site are making communications and Hanford area news more accessible to the Mid-Columbia’s non-English speaking population. With a Latinx population of more than 63,000 in the region, this makes up nearly 28% of area residents (according to 2021 census data). This concerted effort at all levels to reach the various demographics of our region can be found in a number of different places, including on-site posters, brochures, and other communications.
Hanford Communities has joined in the effort, upgrading this website with GTranslate, a web plugin enabling in browser translation into more than 100 languages! The multilingual plugin is search engine friendly and will allow our region’s international residents and visitors to learn more about Hanford in their native language.
Additionally, the 3-part Hanford overview video series we launched earlier this year has been updated with Spanish closed captions and narration. You can check out the Spanish versions here…
